Q1. Please share your Blogging journey with us?
First of all, thanks Mitesh for inviting me on your blog to share my blogging journey with your audience.
Hello, Bloggers! I am Ravi Dixit, founder of StayMeOnline and a few other blogs. I am a full-time blogger and affiliate marketer from New Delhi, India.
I have started my blogging journey back in May 2016 when I purchased my first ever domain name which was StayMeOnline.com along with a hosting account from GoDaddy.
But it all started when I first searched about “how to make money online” and landed on a post where I came to know about the blogging. I attracted with it from the very first view, because blogging can give me the freedom to work from anywhere and also without any time boundaries.
This was something that I was looking for… Because I was not a 9 to 5 office job person. I always wanted to be my own boss and get the freedom to work in my own style.
So this is how I came to know about blogging and started my blog.
Q2. You are running a Blog “staymeonline.com”. How can you help anyone with your blog?
StayMeOnline is a blog where people can learn blogging, I have stared StayMeOnline being created aimed to help others to start their blog and make money out of that.
I always share the practical guides there that people can read and understand easy to take into use. Whatever I do with my blog, I try to share with my audience and how they can troubleshoot that if it is an issue.
It is not only about writing post and others can come and read, rather I always try to help them personally in their queries whatever they have with their blog, whether it starting a blog, driving traffic or making money.
I always try to help them at my level best. That’s the reason I have created
StayMeOnline VIP Facebook group where I personally help others in their queries.
Q3. What is the best procedure to use Affiliate Marketing in a Blog? Can anyone make Affiliate Marketing as a primary income source?
When you are planning to start monetizing your blog with Affiliate Marketing, the first thing you need to do is to understand your niche.
Yes, it is very important when you are planning to make money through your blog using Affiliate Marketing.
Because without understand your niche properly, you won’t be able to find the perfect products to promote and earn some commission.
After that, do market research and find out what products you can promote. This can be easier if you spy your competitors and find out what they are promoting. With the help of Competitors analysis, you won’t need to do your market research from scratch, it will be a time-saver for you.
Once you get the products that your competitors are promoting and making money through, now it is the time to join their affiliate programs and start promoting them on your blog.
So, this is the right procedure you can follow to monetize your blog with affiliate marketing.
Here is one thing that I want to add, take benefit of Black Friday & Cyber Monday Sale every year because this is the goldmine for Affiliate marketers to earn a huge amount in just a week.
Because all online brands offer huge discounts on their products and you as an affiliate marketer has a great chance to promote your niche-relevant products and earn good money.
And yes, Affiliate marketing can be a primary source to make money from a blog. Even I and other bloggers are having it as their primary source of income to make money.
If you check out my blog StayMeOnline.com, you will find that there are no ads, means I am not using Google AdSense. Affiliate marketing is the main source for me to make money from my blog.
Q4. Which is the best WordPress theme for Blogging in the world?
I would say GeneratePress because this is the theme that I am using from 4 years back and never needed to shift to any other theme.
Although, I use other themes as well but not on my primary blog.
GeneratePress is a lightweight and SEO-Optimized WordPress theme which is easy to customize as well, so if you are a newbie, you don’t need to be worried because GP team has created it to make easy for beginners to design using GeneratePress.
Apart from GeneratePress, I have tried the Astra theme also which is a great WordPress theme that has a free version that you can use if you don’t have a budget to purchase a premium WordPress theme.
Astra is a lightweight, SEO-Optimized, Fast-loading and easy to customize WordPress theme which you can easily use even if you are a beginner.
Q5. What are the best SEO steps to do for blog to get best results?
This is a good question, Mitesh!
Because I often saw beginners start their blog without following the basics SEO guidance.
They often forget basic SEO things like doing keyword research before writing, targeting long-tail keywords, proper keyword placement, optimizing title and description etc.
They just start writing their content blindly after installing their blog, but this is not the right way.
Here are some SEO steps that beginners should follow after launching your blog:
- First of all, create all the essential pages in your blog just after creating your blog. I know this is not related to SEO but it is crucial.
- Install a WordPress SEO plugin if you are with WordPress. You can choose from RankMath SEO or Yoast SEO, both are good and will make SEO optimization easy for you.
- Create a sitemap of your blog which you can easily create using RankMath SEO or Yoast SEO plugin if you have a WordPress blog. Or if you use Blogger, then there are many online tools available. Once your sitemap is created, go and submit it on Google Search Console.
- Setup Google Analytics so you can track the traffic that is coming on your site and you can easily find the sources which are driving traffic for you. This will help you to make strategies accordingly.
- As your blog is new, start with long-tail keywords. There are many tools that can help you to find long-tail keywords for your blog with ease. Because long-tail keywords are low-competitive so your blog can rank high even it is a new blog.
- Write long-form contents from the starting days, because long-form contents are in-depth about the topic they are on.
- Start learning SEO and implement the same on your blog. You can also use this SEO Checklist that will guide you how you can do SEO on your blog from start to end.
Q6. What is the importance of Email Marketing in Blogging?
Email marketing is very crucial for any business not only for blogging in my POV, it is all about converting your one-time customers/visitors/users into long-time loyal-members.
If you start capturing your visitors’ email addresses from the starting of your blogging journey, it will make it easy for you to succeed in blogging. Because eventually, you are creating a community of people who are interested in your niche.
In more simple words, you’re owning the traffic or building your eco-system.
By having an email list of loyal-members, you don’t need to depend on Google’s traffic and don’t need to hope that if your post will rank then you’ll have huge traffic on your blog.
Instead of this, when you publish new content on your blog, you just need to let your email subscribers know that you have a new content for them to read. As they are interested in your niche and hungry for more information, they will come and read your content.
So, you are getting traffic without the help of Google.
And Email Marketing can also help in increasing your income from your blog, you can promote affiliate products and deals to your email subscribers, as they are already interested, there are the high chances of conversion.
Q7. Which one skill do you like most about yourself?
The one skill that I like about myself is, I can explain things better. I can help anyone to understand the things in a more simple way if I know about it already.
For example: When I explain anyone about the blogging and other related things then I can make it easy for the person to understand that in more simple words. Because I already know about it, it is my work so I can explain it in more simple words so the person won’t forget it for life-long.
