Q1. Please share your educational and professional journey?

Post obtaining degree of B.E. (Instrumentation and Control Engineering) from Gujarat University in 1997, I obtained M.Tech. (Measurement and Instrumentation) from IIT Roorkee in 2010 and currently pursuing my PhD from Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU), Gandhinagar.

I have served Atul Ltd. as Assistant Manager (Instrumentation) and DIECIL as Sr. Engineer (Projects) and obtained in-depth industrial experience. Since, January, 2000, I have been serving Dharmsinh Desai University, Nadiad, Gujarat as Faculty Member. Currently, I am holding the post of Associate Professor in Instrumentation and Control Engineering Dept.

Q2. You have a vast experience in both industry and academics. Which one do you like most and why?

In fact, experiences in industry and academia are not comparable, due to being totally diverse domains; however academics I like more due to opportunity to work and interact with youth and novel excitement with newer challenges and opportunities.

Q3. How do you handle stress in this fast and competitive life?

Spending quality time with family-friends-relatives, watching movies, cricket matches and selected TV programs and listening quality classic songs are good tools to handle stress in this fast and competitive life.

Q4. You are a Nodal Centre Coordinator at Virtual Labs, IIT – Roorkee. What kind of problem do you want to solve through this project?

Virtual Labs Project has been an interesting project, which I coordinated post MeLT Project. Both projects were MHRD, Govt. of India funded projects and I could extend the benefits of such large scale project to my home state Gujarat due to cooperation received from IIT Roorkee. I did not face problems due to good coordination and cooperation received.

Q5. How do you motivate yourself at every morning?

Prayer to the almighty is the only source of motivation and force behind every assignment executed successfully.

Q6. You are a Principal Investigator for Solar City, Gandhinagar. What kind of problems had you faced in this project and how did you remove it?

This is a new challenging research focused assignment, which was the test of collaborative efforts of government-industry-academia trio, which remained extremely successful and resulted into high quality research publications and co-authored books in prestigious international publications houses like Springer Nature, Germany and Elsevier, The Netherlands.

Q7. How do you help students to excel in their career as a Placement Coordinator?

As Dept. Placement Coordinator, I have transformed my role to team leader and mentor. We have transformed most of the placement related activities digital and internet based using online communication and social media tools. Data aggregation, data analytics, organizational behavior, professional communication skill development, strong alumni interactions, placement brochures, CV updating, attire and grooming as well as mock rehearsal, etc. have been some of the many crucial tasks that we have been executing with help of student placement volunteers for helping students grab maximum placement opportunities.

Q8. Which one thing do you want to change in yourself and why?

Very frankly speaking, due to heavy workload round the clock and habit of perfectionism, my health and family-social life have been severely impacted. I wish to improve upon those areas.

Q9. Who is your source of motivation?

God Hanumanji Maharaj has always been friend-philosopher-guide and ultimate source of motivation and strength in every facet of my life.
