Q1. Please share your inspirational journey with us?
I am a client of modern medical advancement from my childhood, because of my father, mother, and my uncle(s) I am able to survive as a child even after 3 major surgeries at age of 5. Though, we are lower middle income family depending on my father’s income, my family members still taking care of me.
When I was studying 10th Standard, I am a recipient of TamilNadu Government’s “YOUNG SCIENTIST AWARD” in 2001. During my Higher Secondary Education, I have been elected and served as a School Pupil Leader. Later in 2006, I had done my Bachelors in Hotel and Catering Management with 3 Industrial Exposure trainings from Trivandrum, Goa and Tirupati. In 2008, I completed my Masters in Business Administration with pre-placement offer at Taj Coromandel, Chennai.
I started my career as a Lecturer – MBA in the year of 2009 and registered for PhD. Within 9 months, I got an opportunity to Head the Department, where I learnt about the administering the departmental activities and Exam Cell Coordinator. Later, I have been appointed as full time Management Representative for ISO and same was obtained. After my PhD I moved to Kerala and become as an Editor-in-Chief for an International Journal. I am completing 12+ years of teaching experience in Business Administration across five south states of south India. I am being Editorial Board Member for 18+ International Journals, 40+ workshops conducted in the field of Analytics (R Programming, Tableau, SPSS, AMOS, Jamovi & Excel).
Again in 2019, I have been appointed as a Head of the Department for Management Sciences. I have founded Dr GK Analytics (Education Consultancy startup) to support Industry and Academic needs in the field of Business Analytics, Predictive Analytics. In 2020, I have co-founded “Sree Krishnaa Stores (Retail outlet) in Tamil Nadu.
Q2. You are a Professor, Entrepreneur, Data Analyst, and Researcher. How do you play multiple roles simultaneously in your life?
In my initial career of teaching and research, I have explored lots of scope in Entrepreneurship in India while teaching to my students. Moreover, teaching and entrepreneurial skills are starting from the research and research requires analytical skills; hence, with the support of my family I could able to manage these roles satisfactorily.
Q3. How do you excel students in their academics and career?
I am inculcating on ISR (Individual Social Responsibility) among my students to develop them as a good citizens and leaders of the future business world through “Data for Decision Making”
Q4. What was your Thesis topic in Ph.D? Please share some brief about it?
Topic: Employee Engagement and Its Impact on Intention to Quit
This research was conducted among the star hotel employees in southern India in the year of 2013. Primary objective of this study is to understand and analyze impact on employee’s intention towards leaving from the present job role. Study developed the model for the same and same was validated with Structural Equation Model in AMOS. Ph.D degree conferred to me in February 2015.
Q5. What are the main key things must be required in any Entrepreneur?
- Interest, willingness to be an experimenter, Clear vision
- Operational Knowledge about the field
- Good Research and Analytics Skills for better decision making
- Having good communication with employees, customers and suppliers
- Believes in Process Oriented Approach
Q6. How do you see online study pattern comparing to old offline study pattern?
- Campus learning is must be first priority than online, because in online effectiveness of learning process is not happening.
Q7. What is the main reason behind so many failed startups?
- Lack of Clarity about the business or industry
- Mismanagement of Funds
- Failed to grasp the customer and society requirements
- Looking for immediate results or not waiting for processing time.
