Q1. Please share your inspirational journey with us?

After passing matriculation (old S.S.C.), I joined a degree college affiliated to Gujarat University for graduation study with Microbiology. This was followed by post graduation with the same subject from M.S. University. I started working as a lecturer soon at the age of 21 in an undergraduate college. (1979). I continued there till 2010 when I was appointed as Coordinator University Granth Nirman Board by Education Department, Government of Gujarat. In past 10 years I have had an opportunity to work on many educational projects undertaken by Government   of Gujarat. I learned about almost all the subject disciplines which are being taught by Colleges and Universities.

Microbiology is a Health Science, related to individual as well as community health. Besides it also offers an insight into Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical industries as well agriculture and crop output. A basic science with lot of applied values

Q3. What kind of hurdles did you face in your journey?

I did not face many except in the very first year of the college. My primary and secondary education was in Gujarati where as I opted for English medium for the college education. However it was not a hurdle; rather a challenge that I could overcome.

Q4. You are a Coordinator at many organizations. What kind of role do you play as a Coordinator at there?

I interact with the major stakeholders of Higher Education institutions across the State which includes Subject experts, Translators, Academicians, Faculty members as well as Dean of the faculty of Higher Education institutes. We try to form a collaboration with them and forming a Team of subject experts as well as reviewers which is then trained and assigned the task of content development as well as publication for the reference texts in regional language.

Besides these, I also handle the administrative responsibilities for my organization.

Q5. How do you handle stress in this fast and competitive life?

I am hardly stressed. I plan my work and take each day as it comes. I believe in work rather than thinking about the possible outcome or getting a credit out of it.

Q6. What is the meaning of success in your terms?

Success is self-satisfaction. It is a journey. Making a difference in the life of all whom you interact and work with is important.

Q7. Which one thing do you want to change in your industry and why?

I wish teachers as well as educators are more accountable for the work they are doing. Teaching is not a profession, it is a man (not with reference to gender) making process.

Q8. What do you do in your free time? Do you update yourself in terms of education?

I read about the new developments in the subjects as well as Academics. I listen to music. I go for a walk.

Motivation comes from Self-belief. No one else can motivate a person who he /she is not self-confident and positive. One should not allow any negativity to get inside the mind.
